Who is it for?

Are you a woman interested in learning how to build web applications with the latest technologies? We have good news for you: We are holding a one-day workshop for beginners! It will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Cox Automotive in Mission, Kansas. To help you prepare, there will be an optional installation party on Friday, July 26, 2019.

We believe that the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn more about programming and build your first web application in a fun, supportive environment.

During the workshop you will build and deploy your very first Angular Web Application! Angular is an open-source platform for building web applications, developed by Google and the community. Angular includes various tools to easily create a dynamic, interactive app that can run on desktop browsers, mobile and even robots!

To participate in the workshop you'll need some basic knowledge in web development including HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript or any other programming language. If you're a total beginner, here are some resources to catch up.

The workshop registration is now closed. If you applied, you will receive an email regarding your application soon!

Applications closed on May 31, 2019.

Questions?

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

If you have some knowledge in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, you're ahead of the curve! If you are a beginner, we'll help you get up to speed!

Do I need to install something on my laptop?

Yes, you'll need Angular CLI installed before the workshop, but we wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own. Join us for the install & pizza party Friday night so that you're ready to hit the ground running for the workshop.

I'm not a woman. Can I mentor or volunteer?

Yes! Everyone is welcome to mentor or volunteer. We'd love to work with you!

I don't live in Kansas City, can I attend?

Of course! We're so excited you're interested! We expect groups of women from outside of Kansas City to drive in to join us. There are nearby hotels in Mission, KS and KCMO Plaza area that can accommodate your budget and group size.

Is food provided?

Yes. Thanks to our sponsors, snacks and lunch will be served during the workshop.

Is there public transit to the venue?

No, Johnson County Transit does not service the venue on Saturday, but we want to help! If you don't have transportation, please email us.

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We do not have hardware, so it is necessary that you bring your own computer. Furthermore, it is important that you are able to take home everything you write and create during workshops. If you have problems accessing a laptop, please email us.

I applied! When will I hear back?

Yay! You'll hear back from us after May 31, 2019 after we have a chance to review all the applications.
