Who is it for?

Are you a woman interested in learning how to build web applications with the latest technologies? We have good news for you: We are holding a one-day workshop for beginners! It will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2020 online. To help you prepare, there will be an optional installation party on Friday, July 24, 2020.

We believe that the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn more about programming and build your first web application in a fun, supportive environment.

During the workshop you will build and deploy your very first Angular Web Application! Angular is an open-source platform for building web applications, developed by Google and the community. Angular includes various tools to easily create a dynamic, interactive app that can run on desktop browsers, mobile, and even robots!

To participate in the workshop you'll need some basic knowledge in web development including HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript or any other programming language. If you're a total beginner, here are some resources to catch up.

The workshop registration is now closed. If you applied, you will receive an email regarding your application soon!
Applications closed on June 30, 2020.

Questions?

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

If you have some knowledge in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, you're ahead of the curve! If you are a beginner, we'll help you get up to speed!

Do I need to install something on my laptop?

Yes, you'll need Angular CLI installed before the workshop, but we wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own. Join us for the install party Friday night so that you're ready to hit the ground running for the workshop.

I don't live in Kansas City, can I attend?

Of course! We're so excited you're interested! Our selection process will factor your location to respect our local Kansas City sponsors, but we love meeting people from all over!

I applied! When will I hear back?

Yay! You'll hear back from us after June 30, 2020 after we have a chance to review all the applications.

What equipment do I need to have?

You'll need a computer with internet access, speakers/headphones, microphone, and a camera is optional. All required equipment is standard on a laptop.

I'm not a woman. Can I mentor?

Yes! Everyone is welcome to mentor. We'd love to work with you!
